Gwen Stefani tries to please everyone.
The ‘Used To Love You’ hitmaker admits she does everything to make her family, friends and children – Kingston, nine, Zuma, seven and Apollo, two, who she has with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale – so much so that she gets "physically ill from the guilt" if she fails.
When asked how she balances her career and personal life, she told Vanity Fair magazine: "I don’t. There’s always been days when it doesn’t really work out. Sometimes I’d get physically ill from the guilt of wanting to please everyone -that’s my nature – I hate anyone to be unhappy.
"But I think my spiritual journey is to have had these weird relationships and write music that people can somehow relate to. I’ve never had a record that is almost all about being happy and in love."
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old singer previously revealed she tried everything to "fix" her marriage to Gavin.
She explained: "I just think what happened was: In February, my family fell apart. It was devastating. I didn’t know what to do. It was a real big secret but I’m not good with that. I tried everything to fix it.
"By June, I went into the studio and started writing. I was praying. I had already started on a spiritual journey when I got pregnant with Apollo that was sort of like, ‘Wow, really? I’m gonna be blessed with a baby… now?’ That was a miracle. It just started me on this spiritual journey and thank God it started then because I was prepared when I had the tragedy. I had that nest of spirituality in me."
