Gwen Stefani finds it "a little bit weird" working with Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice’.
The No Doubt frontwoman often finds herself discussing her contestants with her country singer boyfriend – who met on the show – and asking for advice, before realising they are in competition with one another, so never knows how much work chat they should indulge in.
She said: "I was nervous at first.
"I was like, ‘Wait, is this going to be awkward? How am I going to act?’
"It’s just natural. Sometimes it is a little bit [weird]. We’re driving home and I’m like, ‘Do you think I should put them together?’ And then I’m like, ‘Wait a minute! I’m not going to talk to you about this! I don’t know if you are the enemy. This is confusing.’
" We actually do help each other, and I’ve learned a lot about country music – just in [the] last year – through him."
However, the 47-year-old singer largely feels "comfortable" working on the talent show as the coaches, which this year also include Adam Levine and Alicia Keys, have such a great bond.
Speaking on ‘Today’, she said: "Three seasons [in], you get comfortable. [I love] the chemistry between the coaches! Alicia Keys is just so magical. Adam and I, we’ve known each other for a while
"And, of course, [I love] Blake, who I think is the greatest guy ever. It’s so fun. It’s easy and comfortable."
Blake and Gwen – who has three sons, Kingston, 10, Zuma, eight, and Apollo, two, with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale – were unable to spend Valentine’s Day together on Tuesday (14.02.17) but she knew she wasn’t far from her boyfriend’s thoughts and was still able to have fun.
She said: "We weren’t together. I was here and he was in Oklahoma. He forgot!
"No, just kidding. I got some beautiful flowers and lots of texts. It was fun.
"I mean, you know… I’m in New York and he’s in Oklahoma."
