Grimes ran off stage midway through her set in Brooklyn on Wednesday (15.06.16) after a "disturbing" incident.
The 28-year-old Canadian singer – whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher – was performing her song ‘World Princess II’ at the Barclays Center, where she was opening for Florence + the Machine, when she abruptly paused and explained her voice was "shaking" and that it had been a "f***ed up day" before abandoning her set.
She told the crowd: "We just had a really disturbing thing happen to us today, so sorry if my voice is shaking, it’s been kind of a f***ed day … trying to keep it together."
The ‘Genesis’ hitmaker later took to Twitter and said she would only be able to tell her fans what happened when it was "legally" safe to do so.
She wrote: "I will explain what happened at Barclays once I can safely and legally do so."
The pop star then blasted people for suggesting that the reason she cut the set short was because of her mental health before thanking her supporters.
She tweeted: "In the meantime "someone from Reddit" or fan accounts are not credible sources. Speculating about my mental health is not news. Thanks … and thanks to all of you who are being super sweet (sic)"
Grimes’ management told website Brooklyn Vegan that they were "unable to give a comment right now".
However, Grimes assured it was a one off and that it will not affect the rest of her concerts.
When a fan asked if shows in the immediate future will be axed, she wrote back: "Everything else is fine (sic)"
Grimes is expected to perform in Birmingham, England, on June 24 before playing the Glastonbury Festival on June 26.
