Giovanni Pernice: Strictly pros’ isolation would make sense

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Giovanni Pernice has admitted it would "make sense" for the professionals to isolate together to film group dances.

The 29-year-old star admitted the tactic may be necessary to ensure the upcoming series goes ahead as planned, amid the coronavirus pandemic, and said if he didn’t like someone then he would just "pretend" he did.

He told FUBAR Radio’s ‘Access All Areas’: "I know that there’s a chance that the pros could be quarantined all together for two weeks doing the group numbers. Because obviously, we have to film all the group numbers.

"Usually we do them live or we pre-record during the week, but this time I think we’re going to pre-record all of it, which is going to be like 14 group numbers. It makes sense for us to get all together and do it all at once."

Asked how he felt about living with his fellow professional dancers for two weeks, Giovanni replied: "If there’s somebody you don’t like, you pretend that you like them. It’s the environment, isn’t it?"

A ‘Strictly’ spokesperson recently confirmed the professional dancers could isolate in a hotel together for two weeks prior to their group routines.

The idea is being considered by the BBC due to ongoing restrictions linked to the pandemic.

The spokesperson shared: "Our professional dancers are set to start rehearsing remotely at the end of July.

"As we continue to follow the latest guidance from Public Health England and industry guidelines, we are considering isolating the dancers and key production members to enable our much-loved group numbers to continue."
