Gethin Jones tricks pals into thinking he’s married

Gethin Jones pranked a string of celebrity friends after pretending he’d got married.

The ‘One Show’ presenter was flooded with congratulatory messages from the likes of Vernon Kay, Gabby Roslin, Ian Waite, and Charlotte Hawkins after he shared a photo of a gold wedding band on Instagram.

He captioned the post: "It’s been a big day."

Russell T. Davies was among those to send congratulations, but also lamented: "It should’ve been me! congratulations! Xxx (sic)"

Gethin had also tagged jewellers Clogau, who sell men’s wedding bands, in his post – and later revealed he’d been shooting a Christmas advert for the company.

He captioned another post: "’Great day on set with @clogaugold … these guys treat me well, a wedding and a family (inc a dog) all in one day. Spoiler: I didn’t *actually* get married in secret and yes, I’m still single!(sic)"

And the 42-year-old hunk – who also shared a photo of his "wife" Nikki – clarified what he’d been up to in a video and suggested he hadn’t expected to spark such a reaction.

He said in the clip: "Just finished filming for the day and put my phone on to lots of messages.

"Oops. Yeah, it has been a big day… because I got a wife, daughter and a dog.

"Today we celebrated Christmas. I can confirm that after time-traveling that the festive season is going to be brilliant. So yeah I’ve been filming a Christmas advert for Clogau."

Vernon branded his pal a "s****" for his prank, while Charlotte called him a "tease".

And Gemma Atkinson commented: "I knew they wouldn’t have said yes’."

Andrea McLean posted: "Oh…you!!! I was wondering how that happened so fast!!! (sic)"
