Georgia Steel’s father was against her doing ‘Love Island’.
The 20-year-old drama student has become a fan favourite since she joined the dating show almost two weeks ago but her mother Sharon Steel has admitted she almost didn’t make it on screen as her dad wasn’t happy about her doing it.
Speaking to Star magazine, Sharon said: "I’d never watched it before, so there was a stigma. My husband was very anti it, but we back her all the way. She postponed her last year of drama school and I said to her, ‘Can’t you just do the last year?’
"But the school told her to go for it and the doors are open if she wants to go back."
The brunette beauty has the whole nation rooting for her after newbie Megan Barton Hanson – who used to be a stripper – called her a "fake bitch" out of the blue.
But, although the country is willing for Georgia to meet her man, the theatrical star hasn’t had much luck on the love front as she was left devastated last week when her partner Niall Aslam left the villa just nine days in due to personal reasons.
Sharon said: "They were close and it was developing.
"She was upset that he left, but it’s just one of those things. She might fall in love with someone else — and I hope she does!"
Georgia has since taken a fancying to Josh Denzel and her mum hopes she stays with him and far away from womaniser Adam Collard as possible.
She explained: "Definitely not Adam! It would be Josh or [Dr] Alex. Not in a romantic way with Alex, but I think they’ve gelled because she wants to look after him."
