George Shelley wants to be a judge on ‘The X Factor’.
The former Union J singer – who shot to fame after his now ex-band came fourth on the singing show in 2013 – believes he’d be the perfect addition to the panel alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger as he wouldn’t be afraid to dish out harsh feedback to hit-and-miss contestants.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I haven’t been asked to do the Judges Houses round yet but that would be really cool. I’d love to judge on ‘The X Factor’ because I’m very opinionated on music."
The 23-year-old hunk announced he was leaving the group that made him famous earlier this year to pursue other career ventures but he’s adamant there are no hard feelings between him and his former band mates Jaymi Hensley, JJ Hamblett and Josh Cuthbert and he still contacts them from time-to-time to check on how they’re doing.
He explained: "I text the band every now and then I speak to Jaymi quite a lot. They’re all doing really well, we’re all good."
George has since been replaced by eight-piece band Stereo Kicks’ Casey Johnson.
Since he turned his back on the group, George – who was the youngest member – has thrown himself into his radio gig on Capital FM and is set to return to Australia next month to film the new ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ spin-off ‘I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp’ following his stint in the jungle last year.
He said: "Yes I’m obviously doing the show and everything in the mornings so I wouldn’t want to miss that. It’ll be like going on a school holiday."
