George Ezra finds attention awkward

George Ezra finds it "really hard" to deal with having fans.

The 21-year-old singer is grateful for the support but feels awkward when he is approached by admirers who want to have their picture taken by them and worries he might not live up to their expectations.

He said: "I actually find it really hard to deal with people looking up to me or being interested in wanting a picture.

"Anyone that I think is amazing at what they do, I always have it in the back of my mind that they might be a di**head. I’m never rude about it or anything; I’ll always smile, I appreciate it. It just goes over my head a little bit."

The ‘Budapest’ hitmaker is uncomfortable about being in the spotlight and has always thought about his music rather than being famous.

He said: "When I was younger, I used to love the idea of writing songs and performing them live. But that was all I thought about. I didn’t think about people getting to know my face."

And George admits he particularly admires Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner for the way he is "appreciated" without being public property.

He explained: "He’s appreciated for his lyrics. He’s released, what, five albums now? And still I never see his face in papers. You don’t ever hear what he’s up to, and I think that’s cool."
