Gavin Rossdale was worried about joining The Voice

Gavin Rossdale didn’t think anyone would want to join his coaching team on ‘The Voice’.
The Bush frontman joined the ITV singing show earlier this year alongside will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson and, although he’s thrilled he accepted the offer to become a coach, he was concerned that the contestants would snub him in favour of the others.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, he said: "The biggest fear I had was no one wanting to be on my team. What if everyone goes: ‘F**k that guy?’ But it’s perfectly legitimate because I’, the one who has been in the band, who has been bashed around and struggled."
And the 51-year-old rocker – who was previously married to Gwen Stefani – hopes the show will help boost the record sales of Bush’s long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s ‘Man on the Run’.
Asked if he signed up to the show to help his own career – like former judge Ricky Wilson did – he said: "Of course. It would be disingenuous to say it’s not self-serving as well. Maroon 5
However, the hunky singer says seeing contestants through the competition and realising their dreams gives him the biggest satisfaction.
He explained: "Aside from that, when you get involved in the show, and I mentored on the show in America, what takes you by surprise is when you meet the contestants who dream of being singers and getting on the show is the biggest thing that’s happened to them.
"It ceases to be about you, it becomes about the process of watching the singer’s blossom.
"When you give your life to music and then you get the chance to give back to people who are coming up, it’s a luxury."
