Gary Busey signs up for Celebrity Big Brother

Gary Busey has signed up for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.

The 70-year-old star – who is best known for playing the title role in ‘The Buddy Holly Story’ and also starred alongside Keanu Reeves in ‘Point Break’ – has reportedly made a deal to compete in the new series of the reality show this summer.

Helen Flanagan, the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress and reality TV enthusiast, was also offered a place in the house but is said to have turned it down, leaving Channel 5 bosses desperate to top the success of its previous series, which starred Luisa Zissman, Blue’s Lee Ryan and Jasmine Waltz.

A ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ insider told The Sun newspaper: "The pressure is on for producers to match the last series of ‘CBB’ but it’s going to be tough.

"Bosses always like a Hollywood star in the mix and Gary ticks that box."

The veteran actor most recently appeared in the hit US series ‘Entourage’, where he played an exaggerated version of himself, and in reality show ‘Celebrity Rehab’, where he was treated for substance abuse.

‘CBB’ producers are hoping he will open up about his experiences in Hollywood when he enters the house.

Meanwhile, ‘Gogglebox’ star George Gilbey – who is a firm favourite on the Channel 4 series – is set to join Gary on the show.

The source added: "Producers hope George will be a cheeky chappie but are gutted Helen turned them down."
