Game of Thrones’ Owen Teale: People beg me to abuse them

‘Game of Thrones’ star Owen Teale says people beg him to "abuse them" after watching the show.
The 54-year-old actor plays the moody Ser Alliser Thorne in the HBO fantasy drama and revealed the shocking requests of some fans who "love" his character so much, they demand he swears at them in a menacing way when he’s out and about in public.
He said: "People love the character. They come up to me on the Tube and ask me to abuse them: ‘Could you call me a ‘bah-sted’, I want to record it? Say it with real contempt’."
And the TV star thinks fans enjoy the fact the "cynical" adversary to heartthrob Jon Snow – who wins the title of Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch over Ser Alliser – is cut from a bad cloth.
He said: "He doesn’t sit around cooking up evil plans. He thinks he knows what is right. His is a cynical, joyless version of the world – we are made from bad stuff."
Meanwhile, Owen – who is married to ‘Northanger Abbey’ actress Sylvestra Le Touzel – amits he didn’t think the show would be as successful as it is because the world already had The Lord of the Rings movies adapted from J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy novels.
He told the Radio Times: "I didn’t believe it would work in the beginning, anyway – I thought it was too unwieldy, too close on the heels of the Tolkien trilogy. But look how wrong I was."
‘Game of Thrones’ series six will hit screens on April 24.
