Ferne McCann saw child psychologist about Sunday seeing her jailbird dad

Ferne McCann sought advice from a child psychologist before she allowed her baby daughter to see her father in prison.
The ‘First Time Mum’ star has admitted she was initially reluctant to let her ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins – who was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he sprayed acid over revellers in a nightclub in London last year – meet his now-six-month-old daughter Sunday behind bars when he laid down his parental rights.
However, she was persuaded to give in to his visitation demands – meaning she has to take the little one to prison to see him – after a psychologist warned her Sunday may have future relationship issues if she blocked her from meeting her father.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Wednesday (02.05.18), she said: "He asserted his parental rights, so I didn’t really have a choice. As soon as that happened I sought legal advice and I went to see a child psychologist.
"While Sunday hasn’t got a choice or a voice I feel like I have to make that decision for her. That is the toughest thing I think about being a new parent – you have to make a decision on behalf of someone else that could completely shape their future."
Asked if she feared Sunday would have resented her in the future if she hadn’t, Ferne said: "Of course, all of these things have crossed my mind. I think when I went to see the child psychologist they said it can cause more problems when a parent refuses the child to see another parent, it can cause problems in the future with relationships and things like that. I’m confident in my decision, the decision has been made."
And, although the 27-year-old beauty is bringing up the baby on her own, she’s thankful she has supportive people around her so that she can juggle motherhood with her busy career.
She explained: "Day-to-day life is really good. I’m happy and I just love being a mum. I’m so busy and that’s what you get to see in the show – juggling work life with being a single parent."
