Fergie and Josh Duhamel were talking about baby plans before split

Fergie and Josh Duhamel had thought about having another baby before they split.
The 42-year-old singer and the ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ actor, 45 – who have four-year-old son Axl together – called time on their eight-year marriage earlier this year, but she has admitted the break up came somewhat out of the blue as they had been discussing extending their family before things crumbled between them.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s ‘Bizarre Life’ podcast, Fergie said: "It was a conversation about, ‘OK, do we start our next baby or start a new album?’
"I knew I didn’t want to do them at the same time. It’s too much, you know?
"A child is something you have to focus on and make sure everything’s padded around them — not put all the other pressures on top of having a second child and doing an album, that’s just ludicrous to me. Josh was actually the one who said, ‘You know what, you should go back into the studio and make some music’.
"I remember crying a lot of times going into the studio because it was so hard to leave my kid. It was just this weird feeling I’ve never felt in my life before. I was like, ‘What is this mummy guilt? What the hell is this?’ So it was quite awful sometimes."
The split meant Fergie had to push back the release date of her new album ‘Double Dutchess’, which marks her return as a solo artist, because she was trying to deal with her emotions, but it was made even harder by the fact she couldn’t tell anyone.
She explained: "You’re a human being, we’re not robots.
"Emotions are going to come to the surface. I couldn’t tell everybody, ‘Oh hey, guess what, the album’s taking so long because I’m going through some stuff right now’.
"Some days are better than others and we’re both working really hard right now on our careers. We’re both full-time and very ultra-loving parents. We’re really trying our best to make sure Axl feels filled with love and that we are his parents."
And, although they are getting on well and co-parenting their little boy, the former couple have no plans to rekindle their romance at this moment in time.
She added: "So many things have happened in my life, I would never say never, but right now we are not thinking in that direction."
