Faye Dunaway pleased for Oscars return

Faye Dunaway has said she’s happy to have returned to present the Best Picture award at Sunday’s (04.03.18) Oscars, despite the "trauma" of announcing the wrong winner last year.
The 77-year-old actress took to the stage alongside Warren Beatty over the weekend to bestow the coveted honour on Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’, a year after the pair were handed the wrong envelope when presenting the same award in 2017, which saw them read out ‘La La Land’ as the winner, instead of actual recipients ‘Moonlight’.
And Faye has now reflected on the pair’s second chance at presenting the award – which went off without a hitch this year – as she says it was "fun" to get the opportunity to "come back and do it right".
She said: "It was a standing ovation. Well, with Warren it was great. There’s a chemistry there, there always has been. And he’s really a special guy and it was fun to come back and do it right. It was such a, you know, a trauma the first one."
Faye also revealed she still thinks about the blunder often, despite it not being her fault.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "Well, you know, you did it in spite of the fact that someone else gave you the wrong card. We’re still doing it. So, there was almost a stigma that I felt. But, you know, mistakes happen. I … talked to them very nicely, the accountants. And we gotta move on and forgive, you know?"
The mix-up was caused when the pair were handed a card which revealed Emma Stone had won Best Actress for her role in ‘La La Land’, and Faye mistakenly read out the movie’s title as the winner of Best Picture.
She recalled at the time: "We were, I won’t say deers in the headlight, but you are completely stunned, you don’t know what has happened.
"I thought I could have done something, surely. Why didn’t I see Emma Stone’s name on top of the card?"
