‘Coronation Street’s Faye Brookes was crippled with nerves when she shot her first ever lesbian kiss.
The 28-year-old actress joined the long-running soap last September as sex siren Kate Connor and, although she has a catalogue of acting experience under her belt, she was terrified when she had to lock lips with Rhea Bailey, who plays her soldier fiancée Caz, for their steamy love story.
She explained: "It was the first time I’d ever kissed a girl. Both Rhea and I were nervous and we had to talk to each other a lot. It was the first day I had ever met Rhea too.
"We read the scripts together first but that was nothing compared to having to actually kiss her. There were hands everywhere. Luckily, we had chemistry. We wanted to make it believable, real and loving. I was really glad that Rhea was open to whatever I had to say and I was all ears to her ideas."
And, despite her initial nerves about tongue-twirling with someone of the same sex, the brunette beauty actually discovered it’s easier to smooch a girl than a guy on screen.
Faye – who has been dating singer Gareth Gates for three years – told The Sun newspaper: "In some ways it was easier than kissing a guy. I loved how open she was. I’ve kissed loads of guys on stage and this was very different."
Meanwhile, as fans are gearing up to watch Kate and Caz tie the knot – ‘Corrie’s first ever gay marriage – in April, Faye has teased her alter-ego may not get her happy ending after all.
