Faye Brookes cried so much during her latest hard-hitting ‘Coronation Street’ scenes she lost her voice.
The 31-year-old actress’ cobbles character Kate Connor was left devastated last week when her fiancée Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) tragically died after being crushed by the Underworld factory roof – and Faye was left "actually retching" while forcing up real tears for the tough scenes.
She said: "It was so hard keeping it all secret and when it came to those final scenes I cried real tears. I had no voice the next day.
"At one point I was actually retching because I was crying so much."
As well as being concerned for her character, Faye is "worried" for fans of her and Bhavna’s alter-egos – who have been affectionately branded Kana by viewers – and insists the pair are "just as sad" as the supporters about the end of the fictional couple.
She added to the Daily Star newspaper: "I am so worried for the Kana fans because I love them. I need them to know that we are just as sad as them to say goodbye to that couple.
"It felt like Bhavna was actually breaking up with me."
Faye recently admitted the aftermath of Rana’s sad demise has left her sobbing.
She said: "All the aftermath has made me sob. Having to continue life without her and all things I [Kate] wish I could have said and all the things I want to say.
"I’m going to miss that face."
Bhavna added: "I’m going to miss everyone, it’s quite emotional."
Faye has also praised her co-star, and admitted she was "really privileged" to be involved in the plot.
She said: "Everyone has so much respect for what Bhavna had to do as well, because she’s kind of playing the victim so it’s all playing around her.
"I just feel really privileged to be a part of this storyline."
