Ewan McGregor is very interested in shooting a ‘Star Wars’ movie focused on his character Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The 45-year-old actor is excited about the spin-off films Disney has planned thinks there’s a story lurking out there for the Jedi Knight in the time period between ‘Episode III’ and ‘Episode IV’ when Obi-Wan is hiding from Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and the Empire.
Speaking to Collider.com, he said: "I’d very much like to do one too. I think the story between ‘Episode III’ and ‘Episode IV’, I think there’s a story there. I think that’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, if there is one. The one that bridges my Obi-Wan Kenobi and Alec Guinness’ portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I don’t know how long he’s in the desert there, but it’s got to be 20 or 30 years."
The ‘Son of a Gun’ star – who starred in all three of George Lucas’ prequels – is open to reprising the role in any capacity, even if it’s just for a cameo in one of their planned spin-off films.
He added: "To play Obi-Wan Kenobi again would be something I would love to do in one of the spin-off movies. If that were to happen I would be up for that, but I don’t know how that would happen. I’m sure some of the ‘Star Wars’ fans would come up with an idea of how that could happen."
The first spin-off film, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, will hit cinemas this year and there are also movies centred around characters Han Solo and Boba Fett planned.
