Eric Stonestreet: I wanted to be a clown or a marine

Eric Stonestreet wanted to be "a clown" or "a marine" before he stumbled upon acting.
The ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ star, who shot to fame in TV comedy ‘Modern Family’ playing Cameron, pictured a life for himself making people laugh or serving his country and didn’t realise he had the potential to act until he went to college.
He said: "I wanted to be a clown, a disc jockey and a marine at some point. It wasn’t until college that I realised what I meant by a clown was that I wanted to be an actor. I didn’t do a play until I was a sophomore in college, that’s when it clicked. People said I was good at it in college and thankfully I was dumb enough to believe them. I pursued it and moved to Chicago, then I moved to LA in 1998 than 12 years later I got ‘Modern Family’.
"It’s probably the biggest part of my life. It took a while, I was an actor for 012 years in this business and the fact that I got that job and then it became the biggest family sitcom of our time is pretty shocking."
The comedic actor voices the part of a giant dog called Duke in the animated movie alongside Kevin Hart as Snowball and Louis C.K. as Max, and insisted the movie will make viewers want to "squeeze" their pets more.
He told the Metro newspaper: "What I tell people is, when you see the movie it’s going to name you go home and squeeze your pet. Obviously we know your pet isn’t eating out of the refrigerator and scratching themselves with the Mixmaster but what the movie does is capture our fascination in what we’d like to imagine our pets get up to."
