Emmett J. Scanlan has thanked the ‘Hollyoaks’ cast and crew, "from the runners to the execs", for helping to launch his career.
The 41-year-old actor joined the Channel 4 soap in 2010 as Brendan Brady, and he has gone on to appear in hit series ‘Peaky Blinders’ and featured in 2014 Marvel blockbuster ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
And a decade on, he has thanked the production team for giving him a chance after he moved to England from Dublin to try to forge a career in the entertainment world.
Sharing a throwback picture on Instagram of himself 10 years ago compared to a photograph of himself now, he wrote: "Exactly 10 years ago this month I came to the UK like a s**t Magnum PI trying to carve out a career. 10 years ago Brendan Brady was born and you the public took him into your homes.
"I couldn’t have known how popular he’d be, nor how welcomed you’d make me feel. Now 7 years & 30 some projects later since his demise here I still stand, ready to carve out another 10. (sic)"
Emmett – who appeared on the soap from 2010 to 2013 – also took the chance to thank his fans who have praised E4 for airing reruns of old episodes on ‘Hollyoaks Favourites’.
He added: "The response to the reruns this week on E4 have been phenomenal and I have to mark it with a post of gratitude.
"All credit goes to those I worked with on the show without whom none of this would’ve happened, from the runners to the execs and everyone in between, I’m forever grateful for having popped my British cherry with yis…. that includes you guys too. Peace. #HeresToTheNow (sic)"
