Max Parker originally auditioned for Jamie Tate on ‘Emmerdale’.
The 28-year-old actor – who has played Luke Posner since August last year – has revealed he initially tried out for a different part on the ITV soap, which eventually went to co-star Alex Lincoln.
He told Digital Spy: "Originally I had auditioned to play Jamie Tate, which was funny. At the time they did so many rounds – more than usual, I think – and they just couldn’t find anybody.
"In the screen test, that was the first time I saw Alex Lincoln who plays Jamie and I was like: ‘He’s not been in any of the auditions!’
"Pretty much when they told him that he’d got that, they said: ‘We would like you to play Luke. We’ve been writing this character, it would be really good for you’. But there was a gap before I started."
Max went on to appear as Luke last summer, as he befriended Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) before later revealing he was the brother of villainous Lee Posner.
Asked whether he expected a long-term run on the show, he added: "I did sort of know my storyline and I wasn’t allowed to say who I was related to in the show.
"But I didn’t know to the extent of what I’d be in the village. I just knew my relation – I knew the whole time when Luke was in the canteen at the hospital, but there was no agenda though.
"A lot of people were saying that Luke knew from the start about Victoria, but it was definitely innocent flirting in the canteen."
