Isabel Hodgins says her ‘Emmerdale’ character has plenty of "good things" to look forward to in 2020.
The 26-year-old actress’ alter-ego Victoria Barton has had a turbulent year after being raped and then she fell pregnant with her aggressor’s child, who she recently gave birth to.
But the star has reassured fans of the ITV soap that Victoria has a lot more to look forward to next year thanks to her newborn baby.
She said: "She’ll be a mum, so I think 2020 has good things in store for her.
"Because she’s going to have a little baby.
"She’s very maternal anyway, even the way she is with Andy and Robert and Aaron."
But Isabel admitted the Christmas period was very different for her, personally, this time around.
She usually loves to feast on pigs in blankets, but had to go without the traditional porky snack this year after she went vegan.
The actress added to Inside Soap magazine: "I’ve recently gone vegan, so this changes everything, because it was always pigs in blankets – but those days are gone."
Isabel recently admitted she turned to calorific treats this year to switch off after an "exhausting" day shooting hard-hitting ‘Emmerdale’ scenes.
She said: "I’ve just been eating my feelings. I get home, and I’m so exhausted because I’ve been crying as Victoria that I’m straight on to Deliveroo.
"Or it’s a whole block of Dairy Milk, followed by three ice creams.
"It’s as if I really am expecting a baby and eating for two."
Isabel has played Victoria since 2006, and admits meeting up with pals also helps her to snap out her character’s emotions.
She said: "But you know, I’ve been here long enough to know, ‘That’s my work,’ and all I need to do is meet up with some of my friends to snap out of it straight away."
