‘Emmerdale’ actress Emma Atkins is "so excited" about Kirin Kotecha’s return to the Dales, and teased there is plenty of "drama" to come for her character.
Charity Dingle is in for a shock next week when Kirin – who is now portrayed by Rish Shah – rocks up in the village and tries to blackmail her over her plan to adopt his son Johnny Woodfield, his boy with Charity’s fiancée Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).
When asked if she is excited about the twists and turns to come with the plot, Emma said: "So excited. It’s always a joy to film stuff where my character is pushed to her limits and is under pressure from all sides.
"There is lots of drama to come for my character, and I’m looking forward to playing it all out. Watch this space."
And Charity will be forced to go back to her no-nonsense "old ways".
Emma said: "I don’t want to give too much away but we see her revert to one of her ‘old’ ways in this story."
Kirin is still on the run from the police after he ran over and killed Tess Harris (Nicola Stephenson) in 2016, so Charity believes he wouldn’t dare turn up in the village because his chances of being arrested would increase.
Quizzed on whether Charity is certain Kirin wouldn’t head back to the Dales, Emma added: "Yes, Kirin is still on the run for the car accident, where he knocked Tess down. He would immediately be arrested if the police knew he was around."
