Emmerdale’s Ellis Chapman looks set to leave the village with his mum Jessie Fletcher after Asan N’Jie was sacked from the soap.
The former ‘Mount Pleasant’ star was given his marching orders from the show with immediate effect following a bust-up with ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards on Monday night (09.09.19), and it is now expected his character will be written out at the same time as on-screen mum Sandra Marvin (Jessie).
A source said: "Ellis’s mum Jessie is leaving the show later this year, and it’s likely that Ellis will go along with her."
Jessie is set to swap the Dales for Dubai when she lands a teaching job there.
The source added to The Sun Online: "It’s likely he’ll be written out by another character announcing that he’s joined Jessie in Dubai.
"He hasn’t filmed exit scenes so they’ll either have to cut him out altogether or refilm scenes without him. It’s proved a nightmare for the show’s writers."
Sandra recently confirmed she is departing ‘Emmerdale’.
She said: "You never know what’s going to happen. There are so many amazing people looking for work and it’s a tough industry, but if you don’t challenge yourself you’ll never know.
"My last day will be emotional. There’s definitely going to be a wobbly lip!"
While Jessie and Ellis are to leave the Dales, a number of ‘Emmerdale’ fans are hoping Jay Kontzle’s character Billy Fletcher, who is Jessie’s son and Ellis’ half-brother, doesn’t depart as well.
One wrote on Twitter: "With Jessie already leaving and now them sacking Ellis I really hope they don’t just get rid of the whole family and write billy out of the show #emmerdale (sic)"
Another shared: "With the mum leaving, that only leaves billy. I hope he stays I really like him. (sic)"
