Charlotte Bellamy thinks Arthur Thomas could be heading down a dark path on ‘Emmerdale’.
The 47-year-old actress – who has played Laurel Thomas since 2002 on the ITV soap – suggested there is much more to come from her co-star Alfie Clarke’s character after he almost killed his sister Dotty (Ellerie Carroll).
She told RadioTimes.com: "She doesn’t trust him any more, not that she would admit that, but she knows what he is capable of.
"She knows he wouldn’t deliberately hurt his sister but thinks that, deep down, he would deliberately hurt Archie."
The troubled child had already caused issues with his arguments with Archie Breckle (Kai Assi), with Charlotte admitting her own alter ego is "actually scared" of her on-screen son.
Meanwhile, Laurel has been left "exasperated" by the situation and feeling "slightly" out of her depth, particularly with the pressures of being a single parent.
She added: "I think she’s totally exasperated by this because she is on her own.
"She begins thinking that the responsibility of being a single parent with a child you feel slightly out of your depth with is maybe bigger than she can handle."
Charlotte previously opened up on her how her character reacted to Arthur bullying Archie, and how it impacted Laurel’s relationship with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson).
She explained: "When he did confess on screen a couple of weeks ago, she immediately said ‘this is my fault. I should’ve seen this. I should’ve paid attention to you.’ I mean, it’s kind of so selfless, isn’t it? As a mother.
"As an outsider, you look and think ‘no actually, he has to take responsibility for his own actions’ but — as a mother — you can’t see the wood for the trees, you immediately think it’s your fault, guilt, responsibility."
