‘Emmerdale’ viewers were disappointed by Ellis Chapman’s "swift exit" this week.
The character – who had to be written out of the ITV soap after actor Asan N’Jie was sacked last month – has officially departed as it was revealed on Thursday’s (17.10.19) episode he has gone to work in Dubai.
It seems some fans were hoping for more after Ellis recently injured his arm, with one Twitter user writing: "Can I just talk about the random exit scene of Ellis. Poor dude man.
"I’m convinced they were planning a sepsis storyline. They made a massive deal of those dirty nails he caught his arm on. So long Ellis – enjoy working with Mama! #Emmerdale. (sic)"
Another viewer was wondering whether Asan’s alter-ego would be returning with another actor in the role.
They tweeted: "Swift exit for Ellis any news on if they’re recasting him or is that him gone? #Emmerdale. (sic)"
Asan was sacked just two days after an incident with ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards last month.
During the brawl, Asan, 25, and Jamie, 44, squared up to one another and Asan shouted: "Do you think you are a f***ing big man, I’m going to f***ing kill you" and "I’m going to f***ing knife you."
‘Emmerdale’ bosses held a meeting with the former ‘Mount Pleasant’ actor two days later, and he was given his marching orders.
Asan – who joined the soap in September 2018 – later released a statement, saying: "I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole ‘Emmerdale’ team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."
