‘Emmerdale’ have recast the role of Ellis Chapman after Asan N’Jie was sacked from the show.
The former ‘Mount Pleasant’ actor was booted off the ITV soap in September, just two days after an altercation with Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards, and while the character departed the Dales in October, he is to return and be played by Aaron Anthony.
Former ‘Doctors’ star Aaron said: "’Emmerdale’ is a cracking show with a brilliant cast that I’m over the moon to now be a part of.
"I know Ellis is a well-loved character and I’m looking forward to continuing his journey and all that’s in store for him."
Ellis will return to the village unannounced in December.
He departed the Dales last month when he went to live in Dubai and work at his mum Jessie Dingle’s (Sandra Marvin) school as a P.E. assistant.
At the time, several ‘Emmerdale’ viewers were disappointed with the character’s exit.
One Twitter user wrote: "Can I just talk about the random exit scene of Ellis. Poor dude man.
"I’m convinced they were planning a sepsis storyline. They made a massive deal of those dirty nails he caught his arm on. So long Ellis – enjoy working with Mama! #Emmerdale. (sic)"
Another viewer tweeted: "Swift exit for Ellis any news on if they’re recasting him or is that him gone? #Emmerdale. (sic)"
Asan – who joined ‘Emmerdale’ in September 2018 – made a public apology following the TV Choice Awards incident.
He said afterwards: "I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole ‘Emmerdale’ team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."
During the brawl, Asan, 25, and Jamie, 44, squared up to one another and Asan shouted: "Do you think you are a f***ing big man, I’m going to f***ing kill you" and "I’m going to f***ing knife you."
