Emma Barton will take on a theatre and jazz piece for her Couple’s Choice routine during ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Saturday (09.11.19).
The ‘EastEnders’ star is partnered with Anton Du Beke on the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance competition, and will be taking on a special routine this weekend, when she tackles the Couple’s Choice category, which was a new addition to the show last year.
The category allows couples to choose from three styles – contemporary, theatre and jazz, or street and commercial – and gives them free rein over what they do with their routine.
Emma, 42, and Anton have chosen to take on theatre and jazz, which requires them to tell a story through dance, and could include elements of modern theatre, soft shoe, tap, and even burlesque.
The pair will be dancing to ‘Right Now’ by The Pussycat Dolls.
This weekend will see the nine remaining couples each take on a different dance, with last week’s high scorers Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden taking to the dance floor for a Viennese Waltz to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Give Me Love’.
Mike Bushell and Katya Jones – who have survived two dance-offs in a row – will be dancing the Paso Doble to ‘Tamacun’ by Rodrigo y Gabriela, whilst Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice are performing an American Smooth to ‘I Just Want To Make Love To You’ by Etta James.
After missing two weeks of live shows due to an injury, professional dancer Neil Jones is hoping to join his partner Alex Scott – who has been dancing with Kevin Clifton in the mean time – this week, where they’re set to perform a Jive to ‘Let’s Twist Again’ by Chubby Checker.
The couples will be battling it out for a place in next week’s live show, which is an important milestone as they successful pairs will be heading to Blackpool, where they’ll perform on one of the most iconic dance floors in the world.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns on Saturday (09.11.19) on BBC One.
