Eminem and Rihanna debut ‘The Monster’

Eminem and Rihanna performed ‘The Monster’ on live television for the first time at the MTV Movie Awards last night (13.04.14).

The pair headlined the two-hour show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, which also included performances from Ellie Goulding and Miriam Bryant, in a preview of their upcoming mini-tour which is set to travel to Los Angeles, New Jersey and Detroit this summer.

Rihanna entered the stage first, followed shortly after by Eminem and they, along with a backing band, managed to overcome technical faults to perform a crowd-pleasing rendition of their hit single for the first time on live television.

The musical pair first collaborated on 2010 single ‘Love the Way You Lie’ before reuniting for ‘The Monster’ – which Eminem, 41, released as the fourth single from his album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ in October last year.

Speaking previously about working with Rihanna, 26, he said that ‘The Monster’ was "not necessarily a sequel, as much as it is a revisitation" to his past.

He added: "To me, it’s more about the vice, and it’s more about the nostalgia."

Ellie Goulding took to the stage for a rendition of her single ‘Beating Heart’, which features on the recently released sci-fi/action film ‘Divergent’, while electronic DJ-producer Zedd joined her before Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant took to the stage to play their track ‘Find You.’
