Emily Atack ‘locked in theatre’ after comedy show

Emily Atack was locked in a theatre after reports of "people with machetes" outside the venue of her debut stand-up gig.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star took to the stage for her first solo comedy show at the Old Rep Theatre in Birmingham on Thursday evening (11.04.19) and the ‘Talk Thirty To Me’ audience were told to stay inside after the performance while police were dealing with an incident.
Emily tweeted after the gig: "Birmingham.. I can’t tell you how special you made my first show. What a wonderful audience.
"I laughed (and almost cried) with you all. I’m sorry for that scare at the end, how awful?! hope you all got home safe! LOVE YOU ALL! (sic)"
A statement from West Midlands Police read: "Police received a call at 9.55pm last night (Thursday 11 April) to an unconfirmed report that people with machetes were outside the Old Rep Theatre, Station Street, Birmingham.
"Officers attended and there was no sign of any suspicious activity."
Fans took to social media to praise Emily, 29, for both her stand-up skills and how she dealt with the incident.
One fan said: "There was a lock-in due to a police incident outside the theatre. Reports of people nearby seen with Machetes. (sic)"
Another added: "You handled a difficult situation very well and professionally – thanks for a good show."
There have been no more details released about the scary incident, which came a day before she replaces Holly Willoughby on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, alongside her former ‘I’m A Celebrity’ camp mate John Barrowman.
John recently revealed the pair have been told to limit their naughtiness on air.
He said: "If you want to be naughty, you can be naughty – but within the limitations.
"We’re not going to do anything stupid or outrageous because we know the time slot. It’s not after 9pm, it’s in the morning, so there’s restrictions that we have."
