Emilia Clarke is "winging it" when she plays strong female characters.
The 29-year-old actress feels she is more akin to her clumsy, bonkers ‘Me Before You’ character Lou than her other roles.
Speaking to Total Film magazine she said: "Of the strong women I play, I’m winging it!
"I read it [Jojo Moyes’ bestselling novel on which the film is based] and it just … literally from the first chapter I was like, ‘This is me! Oh my god, I’ve got to do it! Genuinely, never in my life, have I wanted a part more than this. The closest parallel I have is Bridget Jones, in essence. Doesn’t quite think much of herself, doesn’t think before she speaks, doesn’t think before she acts, tends to fall and knock things over … She just has a huge presence and a huge amount of energy and a lot of crazy thoughts running around her rather bonkers mind."
Emilia stars in the film that centres around athletic young banker Will Traynor – played by Sam Claflin – who is cut off in his prime due to a motorcycle accident leaving him in a wheelchair.
She said: "This falls in a whole new territory. It’s equal parts comedy, equal parts drama – in the truest sense – and equal parts romance.
"She walks in all smiles and sunshine and meets this incredibly depressed, intelligent, wonderful man – they don’t like each other at first. That’s an understatement."
‘Me Before You’ is expected to be released in June.
