Emeli Sande wants her album to inspire women

Emeli Sande wants her new album to inspire women to tell the truth.
The ‘Read All About It’ hitmaker performed her LP ‘Long Live the Angels’ at St John at Hackney in London on Thursday night (06.10.16) and opened up about the message in her fresh batch of songs.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Emeli said: "The message of the album for me is just you gotta tell the truth, you don’t have to be ladylike about it but tell the truth and stand up for what you believe in. We can’t be passive anymore."
Emeli endured a shock split from her childhood sweetheart Adam Gouraguine in 2014, after just 12 months of marriage.
Speaking about where the album concept came from, the Scottish singer/songwriter explained: "The whole kind of concept is a heavy dark time and I feel that truth and love and honesty, it’s kind of not encouraged any more, it’s under attack if anything."
Emeli hopes that her album can reach out to anyone who feels like they don’t have a voice in society.
Emeli’s latest work follows on from her debut ‘Our Version of Events’ which went on to become a global success.
The success of her first LP made Emeli worry about her follow-up record but her trusted producer Naughty Boy and her sister helped her calm down about her new collection of tracks.
She told Apple Music Beats 1 radio: "I got stressed out thinking about it. I hung out with Naughty Boy and my sister and they were like ‘Listen, you need to chill out, just go back to how you made it the last time.’ "
