Elizabeth Banks says her younger brother is very impressed that she is starring in the new ‘Power Rangers’ movie.
The 42-year-old actress will play villain Rita Repulsa in the upcoming film and she’s looking forward to achieving "world domination" as her "unpredictable character".
But no one is as excited about her taking on the famous role from the original 90s TV series as her brother who was obsessed with the Blue, Yellow, Black, Pink and Red Rangers, five high school students who are also superheroes who are able to combine their powers to make a giant Megazord warrior.
Speaking to People magazine, she said: "I’ve never played a villain before. [I’m looking forward to] world domination – and being unpredictable as a character. It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa. We wanted to give her a back story that connects her to the new Rangers."
Discussing her sibling’s excitement, she added: "It might be his favourite show of all time."
‘Power Rangers’ has continued to be a huge hit on children’s television and features heroes with different Zord powers in series such as ‘Power Rangers Dino Thunder’, ‘Power Rangers RPM’ and ‘Power Rangers Samurai’.
The movie also stars Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Becky G as the Yellow Ranger and Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger.
‘Power Rangers’ is set to hit cinemas in March 2017.
