Elijah Wood: Acting took over my childhood

Elijah Wood thinks acting took over his childhood.
The 35-year-old actor was home-schooled as a youngster, but has admitted his academic life took a backward seat after he was cast in Hollywood movies, such as ‘Back to the Future Part II’ and ‘Flipper’.
He shared: "I remember being about ten and wanting to go to college. As a kid, I was home-schooled or tutored, but then life – and acting – took over.
"I’ve had such rich life experiences, I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on the whole college thing."
Elijah is best known for starring as Frodo Baggins in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movies and considers himself fortunate to have been part of the franchise.
He told the Metro newspaper: "I wouldn’t have missed out on that for the world. It took me so many places. You’re kind of aware it’s a high water mark, you’re never going to work on anything quite like that again.
"The goal afterwards was to work on things that are as different as possible, to find fresh challenges. But Frodo hasn’t been a hindrance, he opened lots of doors."
Away from acting, Elijah is also passionate about his music and considers being a DJ to be the "biggest fun" of his life.
He said: "It’s something I’ve done for 15 years, it’s my biggest fun. My brother had records growing up, so I’ve always been around vinyl."
But Elijah insisted there is a marked distinction between his passions for music and cinema.
He explained: "Music is more personal: being a DJ is an extension of myself. Acting is an expression of someone else, it takes you to a different place. That’s why I do both."
