Eli Roth has cast Kimberly Elise and Camilla Morrone in his movie ‘Death Wish’.
The 44-year-old filmmaker is helming the remake of the cult classic 1974 action film, which starred Charles Bronson, was directed by the late Michael Winner and was famous for its violent scenes.
The new movie – which, like the original, is inspired by the 1972 novel of the same name by Brian Garfield – sees Bruce Willis take on Bronson’s role as Paul Kersey, a mild-mannered surgeon who goes on a vengeful vigilante mission after his wife is murdered and his daughter is left in a coma following a brutal attack during a home invasion.
‘Confirmation’ star Elise will play police officer Detective Jackson, the partner of Detective Rains (Dean Norris), who will investigate the original crime and Paul’s actions and Elisabeth Shue will portray Paul’s murdered wife Joanna Kersey.
Newcomer Morrone has been cast as Paul and Joanna’s daughter Jordan Kersey.
Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski have penned the new screenplay, adapted from a script written by Joe Carnahan.
Shooting on the project is currently underway in Montreal, Canada.
Once Roth has finished this project he has Samuel L. Jackson waiting in the wings to work with him on a return to his horror beginnings.
After a career which has spanned more than 100 films, Jackson
Jackson, 67, wants to make a great slasher flick with ‘Hostel’ creator Roth and the pair have already started making plans for a joint project.
The ‘Pulp Fiction’ star said: "I’m a genre person so I look at different genres and see what I haven’t done – I haven’t done a rom com but I’m not chomping at the bit to do one either but I’ve been talking to Eli Roth about writing a really good slasher movie for him because I like slasher movies and I want to be in one. I like to be in movies that I like to go and see and I want to go and see one of those."
