Eleanor Tomlinson believes in aliens after ‘The War of the Worlds’ filming

Eleanor Tomlinson believes in aliens after working on ‘The War of the Worlds’.
The 27-year-old actress stars in the BBC’s upcoming adaptation of HG Wells’ classic sci-fi novel as her character Amy and her on-screen boyfriend George (Rafe Spall) are on the run from invading extra terrestrials.
Asking if she believes in life on other planets, Eleanor told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: "Yeah I do.
"I think that when you’re talking about light years and tie, which is something I don’t understand at all, I think there are probablyl planets that have been as we are or have had the potential to be as we are and have had living organisms on them.
"For me, I think there are living organisms out there."
The ‘Poldark’ star’s character doesn’t appear much in the book itself, but she’ll play a huge role in the three part series, which launches later this month.
For Eleanor, this gave her "free rein" to interperate Amy in whatever way she likes, and embrace the opportunity to deliver a strong female character.
She added: "She doesn’t massively feature in the book so I had free rein to do what I liked. It’s time for a woman to do it."
The epic drama – the first British TV adaptation of the novel – will be set in Edwardian England, with Craig Viveiros at the helm.
Filming started in April last year, and Eleanor said at the time: "I’m delighted to be taking on the Martians with Rafe Spall in Mammoth Screen’s adaptation of ‘The War Of The Worlds’. "I’ve been a fan of Craig Viveiros’ work for a while, so creating this world with him at the helm is very exciting."
And Rafe added: "I am thrilled to be a part of bringing this much loved story to the small screen.
"I couldn’t be in better company with Craig Viveiros, Peter Harness, all at Mammoth Screen and of course, the very talented Eleanor Tomlinson."
