Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards wants coaching role on The Jump

Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards doesn’t want to be involved in ‘The Jump’ – unless he’s given a coaching role.
The 52-year-old Olympic ski jumper has ruled out taking part in the Channel 4 winter sports series when it returns next year unless the programme bosses "up" his part.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Eddie said: "If they came back and gave me a bigger role then yeah, I’d be involved next year but if they don’t then I won’t be. I won’t even agree to appear on the show unless I get a bigger role but I don’t think that will happen."
However, the athlete isn’t keen on taking on Davina McCall’s role as the show host because he doesn’t have the experience but would be willing to be a co-presenter.
He explained: "Davina does a really good job. She’s very experienced at presenting and it would take me years to reach that level. I wouldn’t mind doing a co-presenting job but I wouldn’t want to do the whole show by myself – it’s Davina’s job. I would consider training the celebrities, I would yeah. But I don’t think it’s going to happen."
Meanwhile, Eddie has admitted he wasn’t even keen on featuring on the last series, which aired earlier this year, but only did so because his biographical film ‘Eddie the Eagle’ was sponsoring the winter sports programme.
He said: "I didn’t really want to do the last series, I only did it because ‘Eddie the Eagle’ the movie was sponsoring the show, so I only did an interview at the beginning and then an interview at the end so I didn’t really have any involvement in the show … I didn’t want to be on the show at all because I don’t do anything on the show so there wasn’t any point me being there.
"All they want me to do is stand there and answer a few questions and I didn’t want to appear in the show if I’m not being involved in the show really."
