Eddie Large’s fans invited to say their final goodbyes from their homes

Eddie Large’s family have asked fans to say their final goodbyes before his funeral.
The late comedy legend – who tragically passed away on April 2 at the age of 78 after contracting coronavirus – will be laid to rest today (24.04.20) with 10 close family and friends attending the funeral, and his professional partner Syd Little delivering a eulogy.
The ongoing health crisis means the service will be kept small to ensure mourners observe social distancing.
However, Eddie’s family have urged those who do want to pay their respects to wave him off from their homes as his funeral cortege travels along the High Street in Portishead at 1.30pm.
From there, the cortege will then move to South Bristol Crematorium for the funeral itself.
As quoted by ITV News, Eddie’s son Ryan McGinnis said: "The only thing that makes it awkward is that other than mum and I, the rest of my family, and Syd and his wife, live up in Manchester or Blackpool, so it’s quite a long journey for them just to come down.
"Obviously they can’t come down the night before and stay.
"They can’t come up to our flat and have a drink or anything like that. It’s just down and straight back up. That’s probably the hardest part."
It’s said Eddie’s daughter Alison will read a poem during the service, while the Leona Lewis track ‘Run’ will be played.
There will also be a tribute to ‘Little and Large’ by BBC correspondent and pianist Steve Rosenberg, who has worked on a rendition of the show’s theme music.
Syd previously admitted he is still struggling to come to terms with the passing of his long-time friend, who contracted coronavirus while in hospital.
He said: "It’s an emotional rollercoaster at the moment. I miss him greatly. I still can’t get it out of my head."
