Tony Clay wants ‘EastEnders’ bosses to bring back Danny-Boy Hatchard, so their characters can go head-to-head for Whitney Dean’s affections.
The actor – who plays Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway – would love to see the 26-year-old star back in Albert Square in his role as Lee Carter, who departed Walford, because he would enjoy going up against the character for Whitney’s (Shona McGarty) love.
He said: "I would bring back Danny-Boy Hatchard, who played Lee Carter – just to throw him in to the Halfway and Whitney mix to see what happens.
"I think he is a great actor and he’s a mate of mine."
As well as Lee, Tony would love to see the return of legendary ‘EastEnders’ dog Wellard, despite the pooch passing away in August 2008 – and his owner Gus Smith (Mohammed George), who looked after him after Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney).
He said: "But also, I would love to bring back Wellard and Gus Smith as well."
Tony has worked closely with Danny Dyer (Mick Carter) since Halfway first stepped foot in Walford on New Year’s Day (01.01.18), and he has praised the ‘Football Factory’ star for giving him plenty of "confidence" on and off set.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: "When I first started, I was looking at scripts and thinking, ‘How can I learn all that in this space of time?’, but he just told me that it always gets done – and it does.
"Once you allow yourself to relax and find the truth of what you are doing it all comes good.
"Dan is really great at pushing through the scene. He never moans or anything like that."
