EastEnders’ Tina and Tosh want baby

EastEnders’ Tina Carter and Tosh are to have a baby.

The soap’s lesbian couple will be at the centre of a new baby plot as they try to start a family following their recent decision to move in together.

Tina Рplayed by Luisa Bradshaw-White Рhas been seen getting close to returning Walford character Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) in recent weeks, even sharing a steamy kiss with her, but the caf̩ worker will soon be determined to settle down with Tosh (Rebecca Scroggs).

Quizzed if Tina and Sonia will pursue a relationship, Luisa told ITV’s ‘This Morning’ earlier today (20.05.14): "No, not this year. I’ve heard rumours, but I’ve got my girlfriend and we’re going to have a baby. Well, we’re going to try!"

The 38-year-old actress also admitted she worried about joining such an intense TV show but was pleasantly surprised by how easily she settled into her role as Tina after joining the soap last year.

Luisa said: "I did ‘Grange Hill’ for four years, and ‘Holby City’ for four years at the same studio. I always would say, ‘I can’t do ‘EastEnders’ – too many cameras, too quick, too many episodes, too famous.’ Then I became a mum and I really chilled out. I got older and it’s the easiest job I’ve done."

Meanwhile, co-star Declan Bennett – who plays the mysterious Charlie Cotton – defended his shady character, whose identity was recently questioned by his grandmother Dot Branning (June Brown) after only discovering his existence earlier this year.

The actor said: "I think there’s some stuff going on in Charlie’s world. He’s getting himself mixed up in a lot of things. I think he’s trying to do the right things, but for potentially the wrong reasons … or do the wrong things for the right reasons, I should say!"
