EastEnders stars to resume filming next week

‘EastEnders’ stars will return to filming next week.

Tanya Franks – who plays Rainie Branning on the BBC One soap – took to Twitter to confirm the BBC One soap’s actors will be back in Albert Square in a matter of days, and she cannot wait to team up with her on-screen partner Ricky Champ (Stuart Highway) again after a three-month break.

She tweeted: "Looking forward to working with this geezer @RickyChamp1 again next week and getting Rainie and Stuart back to some #Stainie action. #EastEnders #backtowork (sic)"

‘EastEnders’, along with the other UK soaps and most of the entertainment industry, paused production in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The show ran out of new episodes earlier this month, due to filming being paused, so to give fans their Walford fix the BBC have been broadcasting spin-off ‘Secrets From the Square’ – in which Stacey Dooley interviews cast members on the set – on Mondays, and classic ‘EastEnders’ episodes on Tuesdays.

Letitia Dean – who plays Sharon Mitchell on the BBC One soap – recently admitted she cannot wait to return to the set and get stuck into the "challenge" of filming in different circumstances, due to social distancing guidelines.

She said: "It’s going to be a different way of working.

"I try and think of it as a positive, though, and as a challenge. It’s something new, and sometimes it’s good to work outside of your normal box, if you like, so I’m looking forward to it.

"I’m sure everyone’s going to be a bit anxious as, once you take your foot off the pedal you question everything.

"Even when you come back from holiday you think, ‘Ooh, can I still do it?’

"But we have some fabulous new scripts, so that’s exciting."
