EastEnders’ Shona McGarty wants Whitney to get married again

EastEnders’ Shona McGarty would like to see Whitney Carter get married again.
The 26-year-old actress has portrayed the clingy barmaid for almost a decade and, during that time has seen her alter ego get engaged to Tyler Moon, Lee Carter and now Woody Woodward, but she’d really love to wear a wedding dress again in the future.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, she said: "I’d love to wear another dress – it would be brilliant. Whitney is a ring collector, that’s what I call her. She’s like Gollum from ‘Lord of the Rings’. She has a few already – she was engaged to Tyler Moon before Lee and Woody – so I think she should wear all the rings on a necklace."
The majority of Shona’s scenes are with Lee Ryan – who plays Woody – at the moment as the pair’s characters are dating but, although their romance doesn’t seem to be going well, the actors are thoroughly enjoying working together as it’s fun on set.
Shona explained: "To be honest, I always preferred Westlife to Blue. Lee wasn’t best pleased when I told him that! But it’s been great fun working with him – he’s always singing on set and has been known to belt out ‘All Rise’! Sometimes I’ll join in."
And, although Whitney and Woody are engaged to be married, Shona wants her character to take some time out from men and just focus on herself.
She explained: "I would tell her to slow down. Whitney needs to just be alone and get to know herself better – how can anybody else love her if she doesn’t love herself? Whitney has always been the type of person who needs to feel appreciated and loved because she doesn’t like being on her own. But I’d like to see her have some fun."
