EastEnders’ Mick Carter looks set to quit the Queen Vic.
The pub landlord – played by Danny Dyer – dropped a huge hint in the soap’s first episode on Thursday (12.03.20) that he is considering selling up, to help his wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in her alcoholism battle.
Speaking to Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths), Mick said: "I’m thinking of selling up. Getting out of it altogether.
"The way Linda is I just don’t know how we’re going to run a boozer."
When Mitch asked what he is going to do, Mick replied: "I have no idea.
"All I know is pubs. I wouldn’t know where to start.
"Mind you I can always work in an office.
"I think I’ll be sweet in an office, me. Bowling in and going, ‘Alright, Sandra? How was your weekend?’
"Mind you, I’d have to wear a blazer."
Mick and Linda suffered a brush with death last month when their boat party was thrown into chaos for the show’s 35th anniversary episodes.
Linda was trapped on the boat but Mick managed to save her, and Danny thought ‘EastEnders’ took soaps "to a new level" with the week-long special episodes, and he wishes the show could "stay at this level every episode".
He said: "I think we’ve taken the soap thing to a new level. Every ep starts at the disaster and we jump back seven hours earlier and then it’s four different characters and their routes to being on the boat, and why they’re there and what their storyline is.
"It’s very clever. We’re very proud of it.
"We knew we were doing something special. It’s really inspiring. I wish we could stay at this level every ep."
