Gillian Taylforth wants David Essex to return to ‘EastEnders’.
The 64-year-old star would be in "seventh heaven" if David’s character Eddie Moon made a comeback on the BBC One soap and hooked up with her character Kathy Beale.
She said: "I’d love them to bring back David Essex.
"I’d be in seventh heaven if they did."
But Gillian admits if Eddie did return to Walford, he would probably end up getting together with Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean).
She said: "Knowing Kathy’s luck, though, Eddie would go off with Sharon."
EastEnders’ 35th anniversary celebrations will take place next week with a boat party on the River Thames, but it doesn’t look as though Kathy and Sharon will be aboard the vessel.
Gillian added to Inside Soap magazine: "I can’t stay too much otherwise I’ll be giving the game away. But yes, Kathy’s with Sharon for a little while and she helps her out.
"It was great [to film]. We both said we couldn’t think of anybody better to do them with. And we had a lot of laughs – we had to get most of them out of the way first so we could keep the scene going.
"But Tish is a fantastic actress – she was brilliant."
Gillian’s Eddie comments come just days after Tony Discipline, who played Eddie’s son Tyler Moon on the soap, hinted he could be making an Albert Square return soon.
The 30-year-old actor – who appeared on the BBC One soap from 2011 until the character was written out two years later – has sent his social media followers wild after teasing the possibility of a Walford comeback.
Sharing a holiday snap of the sea on Twitter, he wrote: "Tyler’s still on a cruise out there somewhere.
"Is it time to come back to walford? @bbceastenders (sic)"
Tony’s fans seemed keen on the idea, one simply saying "yes" alongside a heart eyes emoji.
Another follower replied: "It would be so amazing if you both came back wtf (sic)"
The former soap star – whose alter-ego enjoyed an on/off on-screen romance with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) – also shared the same post on Instagram.
When a follower urged him to return, he joked: "I am. Speak to Whitney."
