Eamonn Holmes’ Sunrise goodbye was cut off

Eamonn Holmes was cut off as he said his final farewell to viewers on Sky News’ ‘Sunrise’ on Thursday (13.10.16).
The 56-year-old presenter has spent the past 11 years fronting the early morning breakfast programme but he unfortunately didn’t get to say his last goodbye as the credits cut in just seconds after a montage of the highlights from his time on the show finished.
However, earlier on in the show, Eamonn did manage to say a few words about the past decade on screen and give some gentle encouragement to his successor Sarah-Jane Mee and her new co-host Jonathan Samuels.
He said: "It has been 11 years thank you very much for putting up with me for all that time.
"In that 11 years I’ve had to report on some awful news but I’ve also had to report on some really fantastic news some really uplifting news and we should have more of that.
"But the main thing is it’s not important who presents the news, the news is the important thing, keep on watching it, keep on doing it, ‘Sunrise’ and the news continues after the break in the morning."
His colleagues Nazaneen Ghaffar, Isabel Webster and Jacquie Beltrao ran in to hug him as the video played in the background and the broadcast, which runs from 6am until 10am, ended.
Eamonn announced he was leaving ‘Sunrise’ last month in order to focus on other projects and pursue some of his other "dreams."
He said at the time: "Anchoring my own breakfast show for 11 years has been for me the stuff of boyhood dreams. It was the job I hoped to do as a young Belfast lad – and because of Sky News I got there! Forty five years plus on I have other dreams, and to achieve them I realise that unfortunately I need to step away from the daily studio commitment for a while. There is an addiction to a live breaking news studio environment. However, after more than 3,000 hours of programming it is a habit I have to suppress."
A few weeks later, it was revealed Sarah would be taking over the reins from Eamonn and she admitted she felt "honoured and privileged" to be following in his footsteps.
The blonde beauty started her career as a runner for Sky Sports before she was nabbed by ITV and sent to the Midlands to present sport and co-host the breakfast show on Heart FM.
She then returned to Sky in 2008 and has since presented shows such as ‘Saturday Night Football’ and ‘Cricket AM’.
She’s also responsible for breaking some of the world’s biggest news such as the death of Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and the Brussels terrorist attack earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Eamonn will still present ‘This Morning’ on Fridays and over the summer with his wife Ruth Langsford, as well as host his comedy panel game show ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’.
But he’d also like to turn his attention to documentaries, which he’s been forced to stall for many years due to his schedule.
