Eamonn Holmes set for Strictly Come Dancing

Eamonn Holmes is being lined up to compete in this year’s forthcoming series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The ‘This Morning’ host may have just undergone a double hip replacement but bosses are hoping he’ll make a full recovery by September as they’re desperate to sign him and his wife Ruth Langsford up to the BBC One show.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Ruth absolutely loves ‘Strictly’ and has been continually trying to persuade Eamonn to give it a go.

"But behind the scenes it could never have happened because of his problem with his hips.

"However now he has had the operation people are talking excitedly of luring them on board for the next series. They would be absolutely fantastic on it."

The 56-year-old presenter, who spent three hours on the operating table earlier this month, is set to spend the next 10 weeks off work while he undergoes physio and hydrotherapy sessions to aid his recovery.

And, although the surgery has proved a success, Eamonn decided to update his will prior to the operation in case anything cynical was to happen while he was under.

Ruth, who married Eamonn in 2010, said recently: "We never voiced the fear of him not coming round from the anaesthetic, but we were both thinking it.

"But, logically, the risk is minuscule. We set up a meeting just before Christmas and suddenly it seemed very poignant. To be sitting there, saying things like, ‘So, Eamonn, if you die first, what will happen to…’

"Having that conversation with such a big operation looming took on a whole new meaning."
