Eamonn Holmes recovering after hip operation

Eamonn Holmes is back on his feet after hip surgery.

The 56-year-old TV presenter underwent a double hip operation last week after battling with excruciating pain for many years but took to Twitter on Sunday (08.02.16) to post a picture and assure fans that he was on the road to recover.

Eamonn’s picture shows him with a forlorn expression on his face while standing with the aid of two crutches.

He wrote: "On my feet ….sort of. I can only put the expression down to a mixture of drugs , pain and that late Chelsea goal (sic)."

He was referring to Chelsea’s injury-time equaliser against his beloved Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

Eamonn previously revealed he was urged to have hip replacement surgery over 25 years ago.

He explained: "I should’ve had this [the surgery] done at least 15 years ago. I was advised it needed doing or I’d be literally crippled in agony. In fact I was offered the operation 25 years ago but I turned it down and I kept turning it down year after year. But it’s time now.

"I can’t go on any longer. I’m in pain, my mobility is affected and I really just need to buckle down and get on with it."
