The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a collection of mental health films.
The royal couple and William’s brother Prince Harry have just dropped a series – called #oktosay – in a bid to raise awareness of mental health and get people talking about the taboo subject as part of their royal campaign Heads Together.
There are currently 12 videos on the organisation’s official YouTube account but it’s not yet known whether the trio – who hope their foundation will support young people, the homeless and veterans who are struggling with psychological issues – are planning to add more short films over the course of the year but so far they’ve enlisted the help of model Adwoa Aboah, Rio Ferdinand and Ruby Wax to spread the word.
One clip sees Adwoa and her mother discuss her attempted suicide and how she managed to beat her battle against depression and gain control of her bipolar disorder.
Another sees former soccer player Ferdinand talk to his agent about how he dealt with the tragic passing of his wife Rebecca Ellison, who died of breast cancer in 2015.
While another clip is based on Ruby as she discusses with her husband about struggling with mental illness and what others around those suffering can do to help them.
