Duchess Camilla gets new portrait for 70th birthday

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has had a new portrait issued in honour of her 70th birthday.
The royal – who is married to Prince Charles – reached the milestone birthday on Monday (17.07.17) and to mark the occasion a new portrait of the couple has been released.
Taken in May 2017 in the Morning Room at Clarence House, the photo features both Camilla and Prince Charles. The duchess is wearing a navy blue dress coat with white embroidery by Fiona Clare in the image, whilst the Prince wears a navy suit, with a lighter blue shirt and tie.
The photograph was taken by renowned photographer Mario Testino, who famously snapped Prince Charles’ first wife, the late Princess Diana – who passed away after being involved in a fatal car crash in 1997 – just months before her death.
A spokesperson for the royal couple said in a statement: "The Duchess was photographed with The Prince at home at Clarence House by world renowned photographer Mario Testino who has photographed them both several times before. The image is one of several that was taken that day. Although these were not shot as official birthday portraits Their Royal Highnesses liked them very much and felt it would be nice to share them to mark the day."
Whilst Mario himself added he was "honoured" to have been asked to take the photograph of the pair.
He said in his own statement: "I’m honoured to document Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on this very important date. I first photographed The Duchess after her wedding to The Prince on a commission from British Vogue in 2006, and discovered a kind and beautiful person with a wonderful sense of humour. Doing this latest assignment to celebrate Her Royal Highness’s 70th birthday is a true honour."
Duchess Camilla celebrated her birthday over the weekend, with a party held at the couple’s home, Highgrove House, in Gloucestershire.
