US President Donald Trump once boasted he could have seduced the late Princess Diana.
The outspoken businessman-turned-politician made the remarks during an interview with radio DJ Howard Stern, which has only now come to light.
During the interview, which was recorded just a few months after Princess Diana had died in a car accident in Paris in 1997, Stern asked Trump: "Why do people think it’s egotistical of you to say you could’ve gotten with Lady Di?
"You could’ve gotten her, right? You could’ve nailed her."
To which Trump replied: "I think I could have."
Subsequently, the property tycoon joked about giving Princess Diana a HIV test before he would agree to any sort of romantic encounter.
Joining in with a made-up scene contrived by the DJ, Trump said: "Go back over to my Lexus, because I have a new doctor. We wanna give you a little check-up."
Later, Trump – who has been a regular guest on Stern’s radio show through his controversial career – complimented the Princess, saying she was "supermodel beautiful" and that "she had the height. She had magnificent skin."
By contrast, BBC TV presenter Selina Scott claimed in 2015 that Trump had given Diana "the creeps" when he was trying to woo her in the 90s.
She claimed that the American billionaire had "bombarded her at Kensington Palace with massive bouquets of flowers, each worth hundreds of pounds" in an attempt to gain her affection, but Diana was left feeling unimpressed.
