Donald Glover set for Lando Calrissian role in Star Wars spin-off

Donald Glover is being tipped to play a young Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ spin-off film.
According to website BirthMoviesDeath.com, the 32-year-old actor-and-musician is reportedly being lined-up by Disney to take on the role in the movie in which 26-year-old Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as the space smuggler – portrayed by Harrison Ford in four films in the franchise.
Lando Calrissian was played by Billy Dee Williams in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy films making his first appearance in ‘Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back’ when he turns against his friend Han Solo by turning him over to Darth Vader and bounty hunter Boba Fett to protect Cloud City on Bespin.
However, by the end of that film and in ‘Episode VI: Return of the Jedi’ Lando turns against the Empire and fights alongside the Rebel Alliance to rescue Han from the clutches of Jabba the Hut and is subsequently made a general of the Alliance.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to direct the feature, and their previous credits include the ‘Jump Street’ films and the ‘Lego Movie’.
In a move that will no doubt please long term fans of the franchise Lawrence Kasdan – who worked on ‘Empire Strikes Back,’ ‘Return of the Jedi’ and ‘The Force Awakens’ – will make a return to head the script for the film.
Meanwhile, Glover can be seen in the forthcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ film, which is due in 2017.
The tentatively titled ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’ is set to be released on May 25, 2018.
